How do I register for the race?
Online registration will open in October.
Online registration closes at noon the day before the race (Wednesday, November 27, 2019). We do accept walk-in registrations at bib pickup and on race day, though walk-in registration fees are higher.
Is there a race shirt?
Yes, all runners registered by October 31, 2019 receive a commemorative race t-shirt at bib pickup. Please pre-register early to guarantee you receive a t-shirt as they may not be available race day. Race shirts will not be mailed after the race.
I'm not much of a runner. Are walkers allowed?
Yes, walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome.
Am I allowed to push a baby jogger or stroller?
No, baby joggers and strollers are not allowed due to insurance restrictions.
Are pets allowed?
No, pets are not allowed due to insurance restrictions.
What is the cost to register?
The online registration fee is the same for both the 5K run and the 3K walk:
Adults aged 22+ are $25.
Students aged 6-21 are $15.
Children aged 5 and under are free.
Walk-in registration is available both at bib pickup and from 7-7:30am on race day. Note that walk-in registration is $35 for adults and $25 for ages 6-20.
Can I get a refund?
No, race policy is no refunds. All proceeds benefit the Northborough Food Pantry, so you’re doing good even if you can’t run.
Where do I pick up my bib number and t-shirts?
Bibs and t-shirts can be picked up on Wednesday, November 27 from 4-7pm at The Core Connection, 290 West Main Street, Northborough, MA. We encourage you to pick up bibs the night before for the best selection of t-shirt sizes and to avoid the race day rush.
Am I allowed to pick up bib numbers for a partner/friend/family member?
Absolutely! We highly encourage you to pick up your bibs and shirts the night before the race. If you can’t make it to the Core Connection, feel free to ask your friend/neighbor/family member to pick up your bib for you.
Do you allow walk-in or race day registration?
Yes. You may register in person either at bib pick up or from 7-7:30am on race day.
How long is the course?
There are two options: a 5K run and a 3K walk.
What is the course like?
The course winds through bucolic residential neighborhoods. All roads are closed during the race by the Northborough Police. Visit our Race Details page for more information on the route.
Is there a start mat?
Yes, for the most accurate results, all entrants are chip timed based on when they cross the start and finish mat.
Is this race chip timed?
Yes, this race is chip timed by New England Timing. The chip, which is built into your race bib, is a small tag with an electronic sensor that records when you cross the start and finish mat. Please do not fold or mutilate your race bib number. Bibs/chips are disposable and do not need to be returned.
Note: For the most accurate timing, wear your bib on your FRONT outside any clothing (jackets, sweatshirts, etc).
Are there restroom facilities on the course?
Porta potties will be available at the Zeh school where the race begins and ends. No restroom facilities are available on the course.
Are there water stops on the course?
Yes, we usually have at least one water station on the course, though the location often changes from year to year due to volunteers and availability. Check back here closer to race day for locations.
Who is the race organizer?
The Northborough Turkey Trot is organized by an all-volunteer team headed by local residents Pam Guggina and Rich Toronto. All proceeds benefit the Northborough Food Pantry.
Where is the race?
The race begins and ends at the Zeh School, 33 Howard Street, Northborough, MA.
Where should I park?
Parking is available at the Zeh School, 33 Howard Street. Overflow parking is next door at the Church of the Nativity, 45 Howard Street. Note that Northborough Police closes Howard Street approximately 30 minutes before the start of the race.
What is the average temperature at race time?
The average temperature in Northborough at the end of November is 45 degrees. Morning temperatures at race time tend to be a bit cooler. Keep in mind this is New England, so expect anything from single digits to beach weather.
Can I register the day of the race?
Yes, race day registration is available from 7-7:30am, however we ask you make every effort to register online to ensure your bib number is active and you are properly timed.
Note: Race day registration fees are payable by check or cash only and are $35 for adults and $20 for ages 6-20.
Are there prizes?
Yes, we offer prizes to the top male and female finishers by age group. You must be present to accept your prize.
Where can I find my race results?
Our official timer posts results online. Check back for a link to the results.
What time does the race start?
The race starts at 8am. Both the 5K run and 3K walk start at the same time.
